I wish our society could get over its fear of guns in a school setting. Besides police, there are a lot of responsible people who know how to handle guns.
During the Ohio State incident on November 28, 2016, an Iraqi war veteran disarmed the perpetrator using his bare hands. In a nearby classroom, the students barricaded the door. Two military veterans then took up a position to confront the attacker, if he came into the room. They explained to the others that they would try to protect them, or at least give them time to run.
Wouldn’t we rather those veterans had the opportunity to be armed so that they could stop the incident if they confronted the attacker rather than letting him continue his rampage?
